Here at Live 105 we all enjoy a good prank. There are few things on Earth funnier than messing with your friends and family, with hilarious results! That is, until someone takes it too far….and that’s when bodily functions tend to come into play.
Recently, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker sat down for an interview at KROQ in Los Angeles, and discussed a prank that Chad Smith (drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers) used to play during an Australian tour Blink did with the Peppers and Foo Fighters.
The story goes that (Foos Drummer) Taylor Hawkins used to have a small fan set up next to his drum kit, in order to battle the blistering Australian heat. Well, it didn’t exactly do its intended job…after Chad Smith pissed on it! Here’s what he told his interviewer:
“When we were in Australia, Chad Smith would pee in Taylor Hawkins’ fan, It was the worst practical joke ever. I don’t think he’d appreciate if I peed on his fan but if I can get onstage then I’ll try.”
Check out the 7:05 mark of this video to hear Travis discuss the incident..
All pissing incidents aside, it’s a big time for both the Chili Peppers and for Blink-182 as both bands have highly-anticipated records due later this year.
As a matter of fact, the next RHCP effort The Getaway is due out in less than a month (June 17th) and they’ve already released the first single ‘Dark Necessities’ which you can check out here.
Blink-182 are hot on their heels, with California, the bands first album with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replacing Tom DeLonge on lead guitar, due July 1st. They’ve teased us with the first single ‘Bored To Death’ which you can check out here.
Maybe the two bands will unite to play some shows and reminisce more about the Australian tour from back in 2000, but no word on whether they’d invite the Foos, or if they’d want to come back for another round. Maybe if Chad apologized? We can only dream!
