It is good manners to put your phone away while at the movies. Having it out too much may get your dirty looks, a stern comment, maybe a some popcorn thrown at you. It usually doesn’t end up in a lawsuit, but that is what is happening in Texas.
Brandon Vezma of Austin is suing the date he took to a 3D screening of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because she wouldn’t stop texting during the movie. He’s looking to recoup the $17.31 for the movie ticket and he’s willing to go to small claims court to get it.
The date, who has asked not to be named, doesn’t deny using her phone. However she says it was not that much and that she was helping a friend who was having a fight with her boyfriend. I’m not sure that will stand up in court.
The director of Guardians heard the story and has weighed in.
“Why stop at suing?” wondered Gunn on Twitter. “She deserves jail time!”
