Hump Day Heavy Blog: RIP Chuck Schuldiner and Warrel Dane

Wednesday is Hump Day Heavies for the 3:00 Triple Shot theme, and I love to play the heavy stuff!

Today we had Mastodon, Iron Maiden, and Pantera. I really dig those bands. I also like heavier stuff that we don’t play, and I’d like to share some links to bands that are relevant to today’s date.

Chuck Schuldiner is the founder of  the band Death, he is also refereed to as “The Godfather of death metal”. He passed away on this day in 2001 at the age of 34. His vocal style has been an influence to loads of death metal bands.

News came out that Warrel Dane of Nevermore and Sanctuary died of a heart attack today in São Paulo, Brazil.  Read more here.

This song is from Sanctuary’s debut album, Refuge Deined. It was produced by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. He also contributed some backing vocals and guitar work.
