Heads up single people! “Zombie bots” will be out in full-force today!
Apparently six million “zombie bots” are looking to attack single people looking for love, thanks to a notorious botnet called Necurs.
E-mail spam prey on seasonal trends and this one is said to lure victims to share revealing photos and extort them, asking for money or to meet for a visit, only to infect them with malware. The current campaign features Russian women supposedly living in the US and claim to have been drawn to their target after seeing their profiles on Facebook or dating apps.
How do you avoid it? Look out for:
- Bad grammar
- A too-good-to-be-true line like “I must say you are very cute and I would like to know you more!”
- An email return address differs from the arrival address.
Be careful out there!!
